Joe Cotchett is the founding partner of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy. His work spans financial fraud, antitrust, consumer protection, aviation litigation, environmental litigation and public-interest cases. His record includes Lincoln Savings, Consumers Union and the California lead-paint litigation.
A practice built on public service
Cotchett opened his own practice in 1967. His work has grown from individual consumer and worker claims to national financial-fraud, competition and public-interest litigation.

His cases include Lincoln Savings, Technical Equities, Consumers Union and California’s lead-paint litigation. He brings experience examining corporate conduct, complex records and the consequences for people affected.
Law beyond the courtroom
An engineering graduate and retired U.S. Army colonel, Cotchett has written about evidence, trial practice and ethics, and lectured at law schools across the country.
Representing families after an air disaster
